Communications

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill, and competence to use a range of communication skills in familiar social and work or public contexts in one-to-one or in a small group. The Learning Outcomes are grouped into the following units:  Reading, Writing and Interpersonal Communications.

Application of numbers

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill, and competence to apply mathematical skills to solve mathematical problems. It is designed to provide a basic understanding of some mathematical concepts and their relationships and to develop a limited range of skills which enable effective functioning in personal life, education and the workplace. The Learning Outcomes are grouped into the following units:  Number, Measurement and Capacity.

Career preparation

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill, and competence to gather information and make informed judgments about work, training, and educational opportunities, and gain practice in a range of skills needed to prepare for employment.

Computer Literacy

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill, and competence to describe the role of computers in everyday life and to operate a personal computer safely in a supervised environment.

Woodcraft

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill, and competence to explore aspects of craft and to develop sensitivity to materials and craft skills under supervision.

Art

This module descriptor outlines the learning outcomes which candidates at a pre-vocational level should achieve in order to explore various aspects of the visual arts and communicate using a range of media and materials. Course providers are encouraged to design programmes which are consistent with these learning outcomes and relate to learners’ needs and interests. It complements other modules in this area. Learners who are successful in Art and Design will have the opportunity to generate images and compositions using a range of techniques and to develop confidence in their own creativity and visual awareness.

Health and Fitness

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill, and competence to live a healthy and balanced life.

Graphic Design 

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to explore aspects of the visual arts and to communicate using a range of media and materials.
